Houseguest!
Found this scratching about outside the allotment with a bloodied nose. Seeing as it was daylight & he was bleedy, I scooped him up and am feeding him Whiskas whilst he recuperates.
At 200g, it’s only a baby, and won’t survive winter alone (think nearer 600g before they’ll survive hibernation). Trying to contact a rescue center to drop him off at eventually led to someone local, who asked a bunch of questions & said he seems fine. She’ll take a look if we drop him by, then we can take care of him at home if we like.
I get to build a hedgehog hutch!

So cute! We had a teeny baby hedgehog one winter, called Fuzzypeg. We kept him in a doll’s crib at night, wrapped up in blankets and straw, next to the woodstove in the kitchen (for warmth), on a high level of the clothes horse (to keep him safe from the dogs and cats). He died though, when we forgot to wrap him up one night…
we felt awful about it for ages.
So you’ve read Little Grey Rabbit too, eh? I chose Bert, it seemed to suit him.
Noisiest eater EVER, and one of the worst smelling creatures I’ve shared a home with
(and there’s been a few…! Mostly bipedal, mind you).
He’s being looked after elsewhere now for a bit, he developed a sinus infection or lungworm (not sure which yet) so is getting worming treatment & antibiotics. Should be hearing back soon, with a little luck
